| Thus one purpose of this anthology is to show what lesbian academics and lesbian cultural workers have been thinking and writing recently so that everyone involved in feminist education can better grasp the implications of lesbian visibility for the women's movement as a whole and especially for women's studies. Another purpose of the book is to explore the consequences of our exclusion from the university curriculum. A measure of our invisibility is our absence from the tables of contents and indexes of college texts, even in the field of women's studies. A third reason for producing this anthology is to record part of our history. We feel a special urgency about the work of lesbian studies because so much of our past has been lost. | |
