| How do speech and silence relate to liberty and the possibility to? In Margarete Poretes's book "The mirror of simple souls" the land of liberty is characterised by the alternation of two aspects: wisdom and understanding. For the course the sould has to pass through, desire is a positive force, which leads to God and love towards God. However, in the final consequence, this way leads to renouncing God and to transcending the desire of God. To put this experience into words is necessary for intermediation and gives a form to the experience of liberty. Understanding makes possible to express the unspeakable of the contact with God. Thus, a freedom is expressed which cannot be grasped by reason. | |
