Beschreibung:
This paper discusses three features common to Elizabeth Bishop's paintings and poetry: her preoccupation with perspective, her love of line as both form and subject, and her general omission of diminution of the human figure. These features manifest Bishop's sensitivity to place, isolation, and memory. Her expressive handling of line and perspective, quite distinctive in her painting, brings her to test a boundary-breaking paradox, the eye that "apeaks" and touches"
