| This essay adopts a biographical approach to migrant woman. Women's biographies illustrate how decisions to migrate were made. They also indicate how the women currently view their positions and how they perceive themselves as members of another society whose discourses they pursue. Thus, this example of female Latin American migrants is used to present these women's situations in terms of their understanding of themselves. The essay focuses on how the women speak about themselves and the social milieu in which their lives are now presented. It discusses how they used various strategies to maneuver their life experiences. The process of remembering and its resultant narratives stresses their specific reasons for choosing particular strategies. This may provide us with the means to detect an outline for the establishment of collective strategies in their modus operandi in relation to their status in Germany. | |
