| This article examines the relationship between documentary sources and memory, drawing upon the author's experiences as a scholar who has used oral history, an activist who did not keep documents about the causes for which she worked, a historian who now tries to convince other activists of the importance of maintaining archival records in their organizations, and an individual who has discovered disjunctures between her own memories and the information in her diaries and letters. It argues for the importance of both written and oral sources. | |
