| In this article, career development and construction of masculinites among male nurses are examined. Three aspects of masculinity processes are discussed: "escaping from the bodies", leadership and the breadwinner role. Questions about the process "escaping from the body" as a masculinity process are raised, which apply almost equally to men and women. Perhaps this process should be considered as more gender-independent than stated in previous research.
