| This is a comparative study between the dystopian realities of two female fictional characters: Macabéa and Lenina Crowne. Both protagonists are embedded in a world that dictates and forces them into an automatic behavior. Not only socially but sexually theses individuals are restricted to what the system allows them to do as females in their respective oppressive environments. The similarities in both novels, A hora da estrela and Brave New World open a philosophical question on the freedom of will of individuals in societies, whose rigid parameters have been internalized as the norm. | |
